About us

Gate 40 is a non-formal group created and based in Thessaloniki by a dynamic group of youngsters with a great deal experience in volunteering, writing and implementing European projects, coordinating teams and empowering youngsters. Our strong motivation and engagement brought us together to tackle what we consider the most crucial challenges of our society, such as discrimination, social exclusion, youth unemployment, lack of civic and social participation.

In the last years the members of our non- formal group worked together and separately on several projects and in different organizations. These experiences improved their knowledge and qualifications in the area of non-formal education, European projects management, media and Human Rights based activities.

Thessaloniki is cut by the 40th Parallel North, which also splits the Mediterranean sea in two parts. We envisage this parallel as a leading line that transcends geographical boundaries, and gathers different cultures, values to take them to one gate that has always been know as the Gate to the crossroads of cultures, THESSALONIKI!!! This embodies the meaning of Gate40.

What Gate40 stands for?

Through a range of interconnected local and international activities Gate 40 wishes to achieve its main objectives of Human Rights protection and promotion, Art and Creativity skills development, Intercultural dialogue facilitation and Entrepreneurial skills growth.

Our main target groups are youngsters with cultural inclusion difficulties, youngsters belonging to a national or ethnic minority, young people in long-term unemployment or NEETs.
