Youth for Rights

Youth for Rights took place Thessaloniki from 20th to 28th April 2015. It was organized by Antigone with the support of the European Foundation of the Council of Europe.

The recent tragic events have shown us that our society needs to urge a better understanding on the plight of refugees, and on strengthening a more inclusive society. Youth for Rights was an opportunity for Greek and European youth to promote human rights and empower their participation in society, through raising awareness and enhancing their abilities towards a comprehensive assessment for a multicultural society.

The workshop schedule was split in 4 sub workshops together with two extra, tackling topics such as right to be equal and different, gender equality and gender identity, human rights and disability, human rights and environment, and how to create a campaign. As the utterances during the workshop showed, an inclusive society should be built upon four pillars: education that enables the diversity understanding; respect, meant as a way of promoting the diversity’s acquaintance; responsibility, conceived of as a natural living in the diversity.

Ultimately, a local campaign against Homophobia is being finalized and released on 17th May, in connection with the international day against Homophobia.
